Thank you for your interest in our school. Our purpose is to provide a preschool program for children to develop physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually through organized activities and free play in an atmosphere of warmth and caring.
“The Nursery school class” meets Thursday and Friday mornings (9:15 until 11:30 AM) and is designed to meet the needs of children who will be three years old by December 1st.
“The Enrichment class” will be forming later this fall. It is open to children enrolled in the M.T.W. Preschool class and offers a S.T.E.A.M. curriculum (science, technology, engineering, art, & math/music). Children that join this class will meet one afternoon per week (12:30 – 2:30 PM)
“The Preschool class” meets on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings (9:15 until 11:30 AM) and is a prekindergarten readiness class for children who will be four years old by Dec. 1st.
Children attending either morning class are welcome to add the afternoon STEAM session in addition to morning classes. All classes are limited to 16 children. It is required that all children be toilet trained.
Daily Routine: We start our sessions with child-chosen activities. The classroom is arranged with activity and creativity centers that include a block area to inspire building and counting skills and a dolls/kitchen/dress-up area for role playing and pretend play. Additionally puzzles, books, trucks, trains, animals, writing and art supplies are always available to our students. Circle Time provides the opportunity for us to come together as a group to enjoy songs, stories and discussions relative to our daily theme. A daily craft project follows our discussion. After sharing a snack, children enjoy games, stories and outdoor play (weather permitting) on our secure playground with direct access from the classroom.
Summer Activities: Plan to join us for a variety of preschool summer camps (preregistration required) and weekly drop-in “Summer Stories.”
Facility: Our classroom is located within the CUM church building and has been recently remodeled with handicapped accessible bathrooms, private entrance and a video enhanced security system.
Staff: Our staff includes Mary Burdick (Director/Head Teacher) and Assistant Teachers Heidi Venero and Melanie O’Neil. Each teacher has experience working with children. Each teacher continues to be involved in a variety of activities outside our classroom including: youth soccer and baseball, CCS activities, photography, religious education/youth programs and music. Our goal in our class is to provide an environment where children feel safe, grow in confidence, and develop social skills and empathy under gentle guidance and sincere love.
