Clinton United Methodist Church Pastor and Staff
Clinton United Methodist Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.
Rev. Nola Anderson
Pastor
Rev. Nola M. Anderson is a passionate worship leader, ordained United Methodist minister, and effective coach, speaker, and workshop leader with a heartfelt desire to transform the Church of Christ and the surrounding community within the connectional relationship of the United Methodist Church.
Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Nola's ministerial journey spans three decades and six countries. She began her calling in 1995 and attended the United Theological Seminary in Kingston, Jamaica, WI.
As a student pastor, she served in Jamaica and the Bahamas/Turks and Caicos through the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas. She was ordained an Elder in the Methodist Church of the Caribbean and Americas in January 2002. Her international service continued in Barbados and Trinidad before she transitioned to ministry in the United States.
In the United States, Rev. Anderson has served congregations across New York — Davenport, West Davenport, Johnson City, Rochester — and as District Superintendent of both the Crossroads and Finger Lakes Districts of the Upper New York Annual Conference, a position she held from 2015 to 2023. She currently serves as Lead Pastor of Erwin First UMC and Brown Memorial UMC in Syracuse, New York.
Rev. Anderson has preached at the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) Chapel from 2022 to 2025, delivered messages at the Upper New York Annual Conference Memorial Services in 2016 and 2023, and served as a guest speaker at youth and clergy gatherings across the region. She is a certified John Maxwell leadership coach, a DISC Behavioral Analyst, and a trained conflict mediator through the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center. She holds an advanced certification in global discipleship and a certification in women's entrepreneurship through Cornell University.
Beyond the pulpit, Rev. Anderson is deeply committed to community service — supporting food pantries, community meals, and flood relief efforts through UMCOR. She is an active member of the Syracuse Inner City Rotary Club and the Black Clergy Caucus of the Upper New York Annual Conference, and she serves on the United Methodist Frontier Foundation Board.
Rev. Anderson’s husband, Rev. Andy Anderson, also serves in ministry in the Syracuse area, and their son, Asriel, is currently attending college.Carol Klausner
Christian Education / VBS
Mrs. Carol Klausner is our Coordinator of Christian Education. She has been a member of Clinton United Methodist Church since 1982, and has been involved in Christian Education since joining the church. A long time resident of Clinton, Carol and her husband, Mark, have two sons, Matthew and Andrew, two daughters-in-law, Abby and Meghan, and four grandchildren, Willie, Amos, Finley and Hadley.
Carol has been the moving force behind our Christian Education program, first as a volunteer and then as a member of our staff, for more than 30 years. She, along with her team of dedicated volunteers, are committed “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world” through their ministry of weekly Sunday School classes for all ages (toddlers to teens) and special events held throughout the year (Youth Sunday, Vacation Bible School and our annual Christmas Pageant). But as much as she loves being in the classroom and planning these special events, her true passion might be delivering the weekly Children’s Sermons to the children. Each week she coordinates with Pastor Michael to share a bible story, biblical message or truth, sometimes including current events and other times with a bit of humor. Carol truly feels blessed to be able to share God’s love through the many educational ministries of Clinton United Methodist Church.Crystal Faria
